Agenda WEEK 1: In class this week we will introduce you to the course and  syllabus and you will complete the course pre-assessment. You will setup a Personal Learning Envioronment (PLE) for the class using a blog.

1) Welcome/Introduction (in class)

2) Why is it important to be a tech-savvy teacher?

• Watch the Technology Intro Videos

3) Syllabus and Course Website Overview

• Read through the course syllabus – make sure that you can answer the following questions:
  • When are assignments due?
  • What is the policy regarding backing up your course work?
  • What is the late policy?
• Setup Moodle Account (for grades)
  • Form Groups of 6-8 students (in class) to be used throughout the semester (post group information in Moodle)
• Create a VoiceThread account (there will be weekly participation assignments in VoiceThread)

4) What is a Personal Learning Environment (PLE)?

• Review the resources in “Starting a Personal Learning Environment“

5) Setup your own Personal Learning Environment (PLE)

You will be creating your own PLE using a blog.  For this class we will be creating blogs in a tool called Blogger.  Blogger is owned by Google so you will need a Google account to create your blog (if you have a Gmail account that is the same as a Google account).  If you do not have a Google (or Gmail) account follow the tutorial to setup a Google account.

6) Complete the Week 1 PLE assignment

Read through the Personal Learning Environment Assignment and complete the Week 1 submission requirements.

7) Complete the Week 1 VoiceThread for your participation point

• Watch the VoiceThread tutorial
• Respond to the Week 1 VoiceThread promp in on your group link in the sidebar.

8) Complete the Pre Assessment (will be available Thursday afternoon)
